Presidents' Day in Gifford

This past weekend Dirk, Ginger, and Wyatt flew to Gifford where Dirk will be recovering from his leg surgery. Ryan & Amy surprised Mom & Dad by flying up from Burbank and when Stephanie and I drove up it was the first time the brothers had been together since my wedding. It was so good to be together again.

"1, 2, 3, 30!" Since 30 is Wyatt's favorite number it started all the sledding races. This one features Dad, Ryan, Wyatt, and Mom.

Skiing Mount Bachelor

This past weekend we met Kristi, Elissa, and some of Elissa's friends in Bend, Oregon. We rented a house in Sunriver and had a great day of skiing on Mount Bachelor!

As one of the Cascade Volcanoes, Mount Bachelor can be miserable in bad weather, but as you can see we had none of that.

We enjoyed our Skittles-colored jackets.

Cat Skiing Powder Mountain

Last weekend I flew to Salt Lake to celebrate Mark Fixter's 30th birthday. His brother Tim also flew in from Boise and Mark Ronchetti flew in from Albuquerque. The four of us went cat skiing at Powder Mountain (north of Ogden) and got a great day in on the Wasatch Front.

Skiing Bogus Basin

We took our first runs of the year a couple of weeks ago when inversion was covering the Treasure Valley. The resort was above the clouds that day and it looked like you were on the shores of a huge lake.

Christmas in Kodiak

A bit of a late posting here, but we enjoyed spending Christmas with Dirk, Ginger, Wyatt, Mom, Dad, and Andrea on Kodiak Island a few weeks ago. Here are some highlights.

A view of the bay from Kodiak

There are a lot of Bald Eagles in Kodiak. So many that there was a bounty on them in the '60s. You can see one roosting next in the branches next to this Russian Orthodox Church.

We're told there are frequently surfers here at Pasagashak Beach.

Thanksgiving in Mukilteo

We spent Thanksgiving in Mukilteo with the Bezolds--including Don & Dorothy from Chicago! We continued the family traditions including the Day-After-Thanksgiving picture at Malbak's poinsettia tree. We also celebrated with Kristi after she ran the Seattle Half Marathon.

Garrett & Mary Ellen's Wedding

Last weekend we flew to Seattle for the wedding of Stephanie's high school friend, Mary Ellen. Garrett, her fiancé had cancer last year but is largely recovered. It was great to share their wedding day with them.

Stephanie's friend Elissa was the maid of honor.

The garter was on a Husky football. I love the feigned attempts to catch it. Art (the clear receiver) led the jazz combo that played at our wedding reception.

I forgot my cuff links, so Dave loaned me these mafia beauties.
